Berlusconi trials be damned. Last January all eyes were on Florence, Italy, as Alberta Ferretti dressed an ultraexclusive group of actresses, models, and dancers — from Camilla Belle to Marisa Berenson — in a special one-time collection for the 79th annual Pitti Immagine Uomo (typically reserved for menswear). Held at the church of Santo Stefano al Ponte, the event in-spired her current transcendent collection.

"All in all my biggest inspiration is the elegant, sophisticated, and contemporary women of the world. A well-designed dress is one in which a woman can feel most herself. She must always be the center of attention — that means being in harmony with the clothes she is wearing."

"Pre-fall is a continuation of my Pitti Uomo collection — glamorous and very feminine. It's full of luxurious fabrics like furs, feathers, and lace. There's also a touch of gothic elegance in the sheer black dresses. The juxtaposition of beautiful fabrics helps bring out the best in the materials."
