Ingredients

5 large lacinato kale leaves, de-spined

1 large ruby-red grapefruit

1 tsp. Hawaiian spirulina powder (available at health-food stores or nutrex-hawaii.com)

16 oz. water

1 to 1¼ in. fresh ginger root

4 ice cubes

2 pitted dates (optional sweetener)

½ medium avocado

Put all ingredients in a blender on high for about 1½ minutes. Pour into a sealable glass to sip during commutes.
