If there’s one thing I’ve learned after over a decade of being obsessed with makeup, it’s that lashes can make or break the entire look. That said, as someone with limited eye space, I was never able to get into the 25mm lashes that dominated the 2016 era. Over the past decade, I’ve had to admit that small or individual lashes work better for my eye shape, but luckily, the rest of the industry has also caught on. In recent months, I’ve made it a point to refresh my lash collection, and during that process, I’ve realized that there are some damn good synthetic lashes on the market, especially for people like me who prefer more minimal, barely-there options.
From my new favorite drugstore find to innovative new options in the world of individual lashes, I can confidently say that even those who are fake-lash-adverse might find something they like in this list. Not only are lash bands thinner than ever, but some don't even need external glue (back in my day, that was almost unheard of). There are some undeniable hits available now, and luckily, I’ve been able to try almost all of them, so you don’t have to.
For a curated list of the 10 best, lightest, and most user-friendly fake lashes, keep reading to discover which ones actually made me, a seasoned beauty editor with access to nearly any product, gasp, cheer, and immediately add to my makeup bag. You’re welcome in advance.
Ardell’s Naked Shapewear line made me believe in lashes again. Not only are they ultra-lightweight, but they must also have some form of memory technology. The very first time I manipulated the band to make sure it was pliable enough for use, it seemed to hold its shape for the rest of the product's lifetime. It’s something you have to experience to really understand, and for less than seven dollars, it’s a bet that you can confidently make.
Using the Falscara set was the first time I ever tried an at-home lash system made for consumers, and I have to say, it has revolutionized the lash space. I typically focus on adding extensions to the outer corners of my eyes, but if you want a fresh-set-of-salon-extensions vibe, there are different lengths to choose from to get your desired style.
The Miami Everyday lash is the best shape from Lily Lashes, and I’m willing to debate anyone about it. The rounded silhouette complements almost any eye shape, and they feel weightless on the lash line. If you're starting your high-end lash journey, begin here for a simple, foolproof experience.
Salon Perfect is one of the most underrated lash brands on the market, and I am obsessed with the brand’s lash clusters. It’s one of the few companies that offers multiple clusters of the same size in one package, making it perfect to achieve that at-home lash extension look every day if you want.
Not only does House of Lashes have one of the best lash glues on the market, but their lashes are also top-tier. The Iconic Lite Demis in Gisela add the perfect amount of drama for a night out without making me feel like my lashes are taking up half the real estate on my face.
There was a time when every time I saw a pack of Ardell Wispies in a drugstore, I would pick one up. I went through these lashes like water in college because they’re not only affordable but also look fantastic on a variety of eye shapes, and I rewear them constantly. If you want a good value for your dollar, the six-pack is where I’d start.
In that same vein, these halfsies are the ones that taught me I could custom-fit lashes to my eyes, and I haven’t looked back since. They add the perfect flutter to the ends of my eyes, and the shape Entice, in particular, adds a gorgeous lift to the eye area.
I’ve loved quite a few of Eylure's collections, but this collaboration with Jordyn Woods is fantastic. The lashes are perfectly dramatic without being too over-the-top, but they’re also perfect to cut in half and use as half lashes.
One of my favorite brands for lashes that I have gatekept for years (sorry) is hilariously called Pooplunch. Brow-raising branding aside, the lashes are fantastic, and the bands are surprisingly flexible. Plus, there are a myriad of styles to choose from, with my favorites being the Fluffy Short Cat Eye shape.
