Let’s cut to the chase: I’m about to rave about a $305 product from a luxury brand. While I am very much a beauty product lover and can justify practically any purchase, this isn’t something that I typically encourage, especially in this economy. However, when the first drop of La Prairie’s Cashmere Body Cream touched my skin, the only thing I could do was take a very deep, and very resigned, breath. I immediately knew that it was going to become one of my go-to body products, and when you’re done reading this, it just might become yours, too.
Launching exclusively at Bloomingdale's, the Cashmere Body Cream is the brand’s most decisive step into the body care space, having only offered a hand cream and mist prior to this release. Housed in a truly stunning glass jar, everything about the product feels deeply luxurious and elevated, but as with all La Prairie products, it’s also backed by the brand’s commitment to efficacious ingredients.
“Infused with La Prairie’s Exclusive Cellular Complex, the Cashmere Body Cream awakens natural repair and renewal processes, enhancing the skin’s resilience,” the brand says via press release. “A biomimetic molecule inspired by the skin’s natural extracellular matrix and the luxurious softness of cashmere activates signaling receptors that support cellular renewal for strength and softness.” In addition, the cream also delivers long-lasting hydration, thanks to the inclusion of three key hydration mechanisms. (More on that later.)
If your interest is piqued, well, I don’t blame you. If you still need a bit of convincing, keep reading for my personal experience with the cream. Spoiler alert: I love it.
The Formula
One of the things that I love the most about this cream is how it's both lightweight yet deeply moisturizing. This is partly thanks to three of its star ingredients: hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and shea butter. Additionally, there’s also the brand’s signature cellular complex, which aids with the skin’s cell turnover process and boosts resilience.
You would think that all of these ingredients packed into one formula would lead to a heavy, sticky feeling on the skin, right? Well, the brand has somehow managed to circumvent this to create what is truly one of the silkiest moisturizers that I have ever had the pleasure of putting onto my body. In fact, it only takes a few seconds to apply the cream and for it to be absorbed into my skin, and I can truly feel the difference in how soft my skin is hours later. In other words, the hydration lasts.
The Application

The cream comes in a glass jar that you have to scoop. This can (understandably) be a dealbreaker for the hardcore germaphobes out there, but if you really prefer not to use your hands, lotion applicators, or even a silicone mask brush can get the job done just as well. For the sensory-averse who don’t like the way that lotion feels on the body, I am overjoyed to let you know that there is no sticky residue left behind on your hands post-application.
The Takeaway
Ariel Baker testing the La Prairie Cashmere Body Cream.
While in context, this body cream is one of La Prarie’s more affordable offerings from the brand, $305 is objectively a lot of money to shell out for a body product. Still, if you are someone who truly values your body care routine and only wants the most luxurious formulas to touch your skin, you simply cannot go wrong by adding this to your collection. The silky formula is one thing, but the absolutely stunning baby powder-esque scent is another. The combination is a true sensorial delight, so it’s with a rather resigned heart (but a deeply moisturized body) that I must say: La Prairie’s Cashmere Body Cream is completely worth the luxury price tag.

The lifting and firming benefits of this formula are almost too good to be true. It's also one of Beauty Director Hannah Baxter's favorite eye creams.
My love for this cream is well-established. It blurs imperfections and leaves you with the most silky-soft skin of your life.
