Following reports last month that VH1 was considering reviving the Top Model franchise, Variety confirms yesterday that the network is picking up the show again! America's Next Top Model is back! And all of us are cycle 14 alum Alasia Ballard right now, crying happily:
"We could not be more excited to bring back and breathe new life into one of the greatest unscripted franchises on television," said Scott Koondel, chief licensing officer for CBS Corp (CBS Television Distribution is partnering with VH1 on the reboot). "We hope this is the beginning of a long relationship," he continued, which, yes please, because as long as attractive teens want to be on television, America's Next Top Model should be here for them. And for all of us.
Tyra Banks will remain as the show's executive producer, however in tragic news will no longer host the show. "[I] must turn my attention to new business endeavors," Tyra added in a statement, "so I want to find a new host. Top Model fans, you demanded that the show come back, and VH1 answered the call. Get ready for a fierce-a-fied rebirth!" And seriously, how comforting is it to have more made-up Tyra words (Tyra-isms) in our lives again?!
