Jason Momoa has given up the beard he's had since 2012—the beard that has graced the screen while he's played roles like Game of Thrones's Khal Drogo and Aquaman. Momoa posted a 4-minute long video of him shaving it off in the desert while making the case for using aluminum cans for water over plastic bottles because aluminum is more recyclable.

As Momoa captioned his Instagram (opens in new tab) announcing his farewell to his facial hair, "Goodbye DROGO, AQUAMAN, DECLAN, BABA ...I’m SHAVING this beast off, It’s time to make a change. A change for the better...for my kids, your kids, the world. Let’s make a positive change for the health of our planet. 🌎 Let’s clean up our oceans 🌊 our land ⛰. Join me on this journey. Let’s make the switch to infinitely recyclable aluminum. ♻️♻️♻️ Water in cans, not plastic."

In the video, Momoa talked why he decided to shave the beard on camera. "Most importantly, I just want to do this to bring awareness," he said. Momoa showed his shaving process, from half shaven face to fully. It's a journey:
