Be still our hearts — Ed Sheeran has done it again. And by it, we mean he's left us swooning with his heartfelt croons and devil-may-care attitude. As a bonus, he did so during an unforgettable surprise performance.
Sheeran delivered a 5-song set of epic proportions during this weekend's iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas that included a cover of Blackstreet's 'No Diggity' and a performance of Macklemore's gay-rights ballad 'Same Love' with the man himself. To delight of the crowd, Sheeran provided hypnotic guitar riffs and sung the anthem's hook with due fervor. Considering the song's subject matter, we feel slightly less embarassed about turning into weeping fan girls.
Following the set, Sheeran praised Macklemore's game-changing hip-hop number to Billboard:
"I think it's making homosexuality more acceptable within hip-hop to have one of the biggest rappers out there speaking about it quite openly.... I love the way he did it at the Grammys. It's good to have songs out there — songs that make people think. Songs that aren't just about having a good beat and you can dance to."
It's not first time Sheeran and Macklemore have worked together and tugged at our heartstrings. Last November, the ginger-haired pair appeared on Sesame Street and performed kid-friendly songs with the Muppet cast.
