The Real Story Behind That Adorable First Kiss in 'Love Actually'

There was a real crush involved off-camera.

Whether you're obsessed or just think it's corny, Love Actually has become a Christmas classic. Every scene and character either gives you the warm fuzzies or makes you go and sob for the rest of the day, which means it's the perfect rom-com. And one of the most memorable scenes involve two of the youngest cast members—and apparently, a cute off-camera crush, too.

Toward the end of the 2003 movie, little Sam (Thomas Brodie-Sangster) runs through the airport to catch up with Joanna (Olivia Olson), who is flying to the United States, so he can express his feelings for her. (Clearly, the movie was set before airports cracked down on security.) She gives him a kiss on the cheek, basically making his entire life complete.

And it turns out that the moment was just as adorable and sweet on the set of Love Actually. Olson told E! News that she was actually the one with the childhood crush. "It was my first kiss and on-screen kiss too," she said. "I was really nervous because I kind of had a crush on Thomas back in the day and I was also worried because I was taller than him."

These days, Brodie-Sangster is most known for playing Jojen Reed on Game of Thrones. Olson voices Marceline the Vampire Queen on Adventure Time, and even costarred as voice actors with her childhood crush on Phineas and Ferb. They even played love interests, which is too cute.

Olson is now working on a music career as well, which makes sense, because her "All I Want for Christmas Is You" was so good that it was edited to sound more childlike. For now, put on a gaudy Christmas sweater and get nostalgic with her 2003 rendition of the Mariah Carey classic.
