It makes sense that not only is The New Agent returning, but that it received such a quick renewal. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show is Netflix's 10th-most-watched English-language show of all time.

Also, even before season 4 was greenlit, Deadline reported that Netflix had already asked the showrunner to assemble a writers’s room. "We’ve been working for a while on the storyline. We have some scripts, we are breaking stories," Ryan told the outlet during early 2026 press for the show’s third season. As we now know, Netflix is definitely moving ahead with what they've been working on.

Who in the 'The Night Agent' cast will return for season 4?

Based on the eponymous mystery-thriller novel by Matthew Quirk, Ryan structured each season of The Night Agent around a “revolving cast,” as our titular agent Peter Sutherland (played by Gabriel Basso) is thrown into new adventures. So while Basso will surely return for a new season, we can expect that he’ll be one of the few familiar faces on the show.

Still, it’s possible that recurring characters like Fola Evans-Akingbola’s Chelsea Arrington could return in season 4, given her sustained presence throughout the series’s run. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said of Amanda Warren’s Catherine Weaver, since Peter’s mentor dies in season 3. Similarly, Louis Herthum won’t appear in future seasons, as his character, Jacob Monroe, was murdered in the most recent season.

The Night Agent’s worldbuilding means it can tap former stars to reprise their roles in later seasons—but that also means that beloved characters may take a season or two off. Who are the new cast members in 'The Night Agent' season 4?

According to the outlet, a handful of exciting stars are joining the season 4 cast, including former Bosch star Titus Welliver, Trevante Rhodes of Moonlight fame, Sinners actress Li Jun Li, and Elizabeth Lail, who broke out in the first season of You.

While details about their characters are scarce, we do know their names and brief descriptions—and one of them should be exciting for eagle-eyed fans.
