High-Vamp Flats Are Quietly Replacing Classic Ballet Slippers

It’s the must-know shoe trend of 2026.

Ballet flats are about as classic as it gets when it comes to footwear, and fashion's infatuation with balletcore only deepened our obsession with them in recent years. They've continued to pop up in shoe trends, reimagined as rounded slippers, vintage-inspired Mary Janes, and even sporty sneakerinas. That doesn't appear to be changing anytime soon, because the latest ballerina-inspired style is already here.

Defined by a glove-like construction and an extended upper, high-vamp flats sautéd onto the style scene a few seasons ago, but made their most compelling case during the Spring 2026 fashion week circuit.

At Toteme, full-coverage flats were styled with black blazers, cream satin pants, and white button-downs. Akris took a similar minimalist approach, teaming ivory flats with a neutral co-ord cut from suede. Meanwhile, Jil Sander opted for a scintillating, almost maximalist shade of silver.

Beyond the runways, high-vamp flats have also permeated celebrity circles. Last year during Paris Fashion Week, Gigi Hadid slipped into a pair from Mansur Gavriel before walking Miu Miu’s runway. She coordinated her shoes with a billowing bomber jacket and matching leather pants for an effortlessly cool edge.

Months later, Kendall Jenner took the look for a spin. The supermodel wore a glossy alternative from Aeyde, designed with an almond silhouette and a contoured rim. In true quiet-luxury fashion, Jenner styled her skin-tight shoes with a relaxed T-shirt, a pair of barrel jeans, and The Row's $4,370 Terrasse Bag.
