This New Feature Will Completely Change How You Watch Netflix

It's like Netflix meets Spotify.

Ever get into conversation with friends and start recommending a slew of TV shows, before realizing there's no easy way to nudge them into *actually* watching Orange Is the New Black when they get home? Netflix has finally figured out a way to recommend shows to your friends by incorporating what makes Spotify so addictive: playlists.

Netflix has introduced Flixtapes, which, like the name suggests, are like mixtapes, but for Netflix titles. They're customizable ways to create lists of things you like to watch, and then share them with other Netflix users.

To create a Flixtape, just type in a name of your playlist, and Netflix will start you with a few suggestions based on your title. Then, you edit the list, and you can include both TV shows and movies on the same Flixtape. Once you've made your playlist, you can then edit the "cover" by adding cartoon illustrations and listing a "To" and "From" if you're sending it to someone. Finally, you can share it through Twitter and Facebook, or by copying and pasting a link.

You can go to flixtape.netflix.com to try it out for yourself, or just watch their video below to see Flixtapes in action. Like the video notes, it's the 2016 version of making a mix CD for your crush, or just forcing your friends to watch rom-coms you've been obsessed with lately.
