Burn 450 Calories in 30 Minutes

No Aspen escape in this year's travel plans? Snowshoe guru Ron Rash offers strategies that will work in your local park...or backyard. Cycle through these snowshoe steps for 30 minutes, and you'll burn up to 450 calories.

1. Run a lap (it could be around your house or block), pumping arms up and down.

2. Stake out a small hill, about 100 yards (it doesn't need to be steep). Sprint up, then take an easy jog down. Repeat three times.

3. Find the closest stretch of snow pileup. Using the claws in the front of the snowshoes to dig into the snow, step up and down the pile in a zigzag pattern, from one end of the snowbank to the other.
