Taraji P. Henson has long been an advocate in Hollywood (opens in new tab) for women and Black empowerment. The Empire actress consistently uses her social platforms (opens in new tab) to speak out against racial injustices, and she's made her stance even clearer following the deaths of George Floyd (opens in new tab), Breanna Taylor (opens in new tab), (opens in new tab) and countless others (opens in new tab) at the hands of police officers. Henson makes it clear in everything she does that she is proud of her Blackness and that she will not be silenced.

As a follow-up to her stunning selfie, Henson posted a video in which she's picking out her vibrant red fro with the legendary song "Say It Loud—I’m Black and I’m Proud" by James Brown playing in the background.
Earlier this year, the Oscar-nominated actress launched a hair care line tailored for natural hair and scalp care. Hair care has been important to Henson since her college days: "A little secret about me is that if I didn't go into acting, I would have gone into cosmetology," Henson said in an ELLE interview (opens in new tab) earlier this year.
Throughout her career, Henson has shown us the versatility of natural hair, (opens in new tab)from silk presses to hair extensions and everything in between.
