Alicia Keys hit the red carpet for the 2019 Grammy Awards, which she's hosting this year, rocking her iconic no-makeup look. ICYMI, Alicia wrote an essay for Lenny in summer 2016 explaining her decision to stop wearing makeup. “I don’t want to cover up anymore,” she wrote. “Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing.” Alicia stuck with it, attending the BET awards sans makeup, as well as appearing on The Voice with her all-natural look.
Still, Alicia's made it clear that she'll still wear makeup if she damn well pleases. In an interview with Howard Sterm, Voice co-host Adam Levine described seeing Alicia apply a bit of makeup before one show, and saying, “I thought Alicia doesn’t wear makeup.”
She responded in basically the most iconic way ever, telling him: "I do what the f-ck I want." That appears to be Alicia's stance while hosting the 2019 Grammy Awards, too. (BTW: Alicia's won 15 Grammys, so pretty sure she can do whatever she wants.) Check out her looks from the night:
