"What lip is that?" A professional lipstick critic reveals all.

Lipstick, Red, Cosmetics, Pink, Beauty, Lip care, Lip, Material property, Tints and shades, Brand,

I'm a serial lipstick dater. So many lip products slide onto my desk. Some I double-tap and have all the heart eyes for. Others I ghost and leave on seen. This is #BigLipstickEnergy, an honest breakdown of how I feel about the latest lip launches. Read on for the three lipstick flings I'm keeping in rotation for now. Next week, I'll have a new roster.

This Sultry Red
Rouge Interdit Satin Lipstick in 12 Rouge Insomnie
Givenchy sephora.com

Nothing says swanky better than a sparkly red lipstick. And Givenchy delivers with a limited-edition drop. The carvings on the glistening bullet are inspired by Hubert de Givenchy’s first Rouge Couture. I know, it’s almost too pretty to use, but best believe this sultry wine shade is not one you'll want to pass up. The bold pigment will appear in just one glide, but I’d recommend two swipes to be safe.

It’s hard not to expect elegance when Givenchy is involved. And I’m here to assure you the brand's makeup is equally as chic. The top shelf appeal is obvious, but the actual lipstick color is what I love the most. As the seasons change, I switch up my vibe and wear deeper shades instead of bright and summery hues. This color is reminiscent of red wine and cranberry sauce, which appropriately suits my holiday sensibilities. I wore this to a rather dressy occasion and my makeup looked the part.

This Universal Berry
Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick in After Hours
Revlon revlon.com

You can always trust Revlon to do matte lipsticks right. Don’t let the price tag fool you, this impressive non-drying formula gives higher-end options a run for their money. It's the ultimate nightcap warrior; when you finally head home, you won’t have to worry about the deep plum shade looking like a hot streaky mess.

December is arguably the most festive month of the year, meaning you can never own enough red lipsticks. All my beauty budget gurus will appreciate this gem. It’s a low-lift, matte that really stays put. The shade is universally sultry and will complement a wide range of skin tones. I can’t stop selfie-ing in it. Whether you have a date night or cocktail event coming up, give this color a whirl.

This Hydrating Lip Oil
In the Stars Lip Oil
Winky Lux nordstrom.com

Let's get one thing straight: Lip oils and lip glosses are two different things. This oil imparts the same lustrous shine as a lip gloss, but—with the help of fatty acids and antioxidants, like vitamin E, sunflower and avocado oil—it doesn't just sit on top of your lips and shine, it delivers maximum moisture. The formula actually nourishes and hydrates your lips.

In addition to its cute, eye-pleasing packaging, I'm very into the way this lip oil generously lingers on my lips. The temperatures have officially dropped in New York City, wreaking havoc on my poor lips. If you prefer body lotion over body oil, lip oil will also be your thing, especially during this savagely cold season. To avoid chapped, cracked lips, I've been lathering this oil on every few hours, and it's been clutch thus far.
