SNL's "Last Christmas With Barack" Rap *Gets* Us

"Drinking egg nog like I don't care. I'm going to hurt myself before we lose Obamacare." 🎶

Saturday Night Live has been documenting our feelings about politics and the state of the world in 2016 pretty perfectly all year and last night, they nailed the overwhelming sense of unease we're all feeling this holiday season.

Chance the Rapper was this week's musical guest, but, as Bustle notes, he also appeared during a few other crucial moments of the show, like during the "Last Christmas With Barack" rap. He and cast member Kenan Thompson performed the song, along with Leslie Jones, who joined in for killer verse celebrating the glorious Joe Biden.

The song is an ode to Barack Obama, but also a harrowing bit of honesty, voicing our collective anxieties about what's to come during the next four years. Standout lines include: "Hey, kids, enjoy the presents while ya can, 'cause next year you might get a bomb from Iran," and "drinking egg nog like I don't care—I'm going to hurt myself before we lose Obamacare."

So, let's all do the "Jingle Barack" and (try to) enjoy this last Christmas with Obama. Or, if you can't manage that and spend the 2016 holiday season curled up in fetal position, battling waves of intense anxiety and fear, at least this song reminds you that you're not alone.
