Mom and Dad are finally back from vacation. Yesterday, Barack and Michelle Obama were photographed together for the first time since returning from their Virgin Islands getaway. (Barack made a quick cameo in New York last month, looking refreshed from a much-needed break.)
The Obamas enjoyed a trip to the National Art Gallery in Washington, D.C. on Sunday and waved to onlookers as they exited the museum. And while the outing marked their return to daily life in the capital, it also signaled another beginning: the former president's new style. Exhibit A: the leather jacket.
Sure, every dad owns a brown leather jacket. But it's refreshing to see Obama sport the outerwear after eight years of nonstop suits. And look! He's replaced his mom jeans with polished dark-wash denim and traded in the running shoes for some lace-up oxfords. Not to mention Joe Biden would be proud of his sunglasses game. Plus he shamelessly toted a printed shopping bag—classic dad move.
Let's not overlook Michelle, who gave us two terms of chic-yet-approachable First Lady fashion. She opted for all-black everything, layering a relaxed oversize cardigan over a turtleneck and fitted jeans. She didn't skimp on accessories either—big sunglasses, hoop earrings, stacked bracelets, and a leather handbag completed the look.
They seem to be having a leisurely time while Trump is fussing over accusing the former POTUS and his administration of wire-tapping phone calls. Oh well.
