Cynthia Nixon from 'Sex and the City' Might Run for Governor of New York
Miranda Hobbes 2018?

Cynthia Nixon might be the next actor to run for public office. According to The Hill (opens in new tab), Nixon is being considered as a possible opponent for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in the 2018 primaries.
Nixon has been an outspoken critic of Cuomo in the past, taking aim at his education policies and comparing him unfavorably to Donald Trump's Secretary of Education, Betsy DeVos.
On The View (opens in new tab) in April, Nixon summed up her issue with Cuomo. "Basically, Gov. Cuomo is shortchanging the children of New York state," she said. "He is not against public schools but he doesn't like to pay for them."
Cuomo's team maintains that he's committed to progressive values and ready to serve a third term as governor.
"Governor Cuomo has the strongest progressive record of any elected official in this country—period—and we look forward to building on that record in the third term," Bill Mulrow, Cuomo's 2018 campaign chairman, told the Wall Street Journal (opens in new tab).
