Birdies, the Meghan Markle-approved slipper-inspired flats, have a brand new look. The line's "Starling" style now comes in leather in addition to velvet, suede, and cheetah-printed calf hair.
"For us, launching our best selling silhouette, the Starling, in leather was a natural progression," founders Bianca Gates and Marisa Sharkey told T&C via email this week. "We wanted to offer our customer something elevated yet still true to the Birdies brand, and by using the highest quality leather, we did just that."
The leather version of the shoe is available in three perfect-for-fall colors: taupe, black, and cognac, and it still features Birdies' signature cushioned sole.
The Duchess of Sussex has yet to wear the new leather style, but we wouldn't be surprised if she sports a pair sometime soon.
"Meghan has been a big part of our story from the very beginning, quite honestly. Even before she was dating Prince Harry, she was a big fan of the brand," Gates told Town & Country in an interview earlier this year.
"She was a great brand evangelist from the very beginning and embodied the brand we wanted to grow up to be so much."
Since joining the royal family, the Duchess of Sussex has worn the Starling style on multiple occasions, including shortly after she announced her pregnancy last fall.
"She chooses to wear us in such amazing moments in time," Gates previously told T&C. "We really believe that she's being very thoughtful about when she shows herself wearing Birdies."
