Tonight, Madonna performed a tribute to her longtime friend Prince at the Billboard Music Awards.
Clad in a metallic lavender paisley suit, seated on a plush purple throne, Madonna performed the Prince-penned ballad "Nothing Compares 2 U," and was then joined on stage by Stevie Wonder for "Purple Rain."
The tribute was the final act in the evening's Billboard Music Awards ceremony. Questlove delivered a moving introduction to the Material Girl's performance, reminding the audience that Prince's musical legacy would live on, not only in the music he actually created, but in the influence he had on musicians and music lovers around the world.
