Girls Are Taking a Stand Against Makeup Shaming by Wearing It on Half Their Faces

"Don't be ashamed or embarrassed if it makes you feel a little bit better about yourself."

YouTube beauty blogger Nikkie has officially started an anti makeup shaming revolution. After her The Power of Makeup video (opens in new tab) went viral, girls everywhere are now joining in to help stop makeup shamers, who attack girls for wearing lots of makeup in pics and videos, saying they must be insecure, or that they're just doing it because they want to impress a crush. When really, makeup is just fun and you should be able to use it to express yourself however you want.

Girls are now posting photos to Instagram with half of their faces made up and the hashtag #ThePowerofMakeup, and sharing what they love about makeup and how it makes them feel confident. It's about being comfortable in your own skin, and proud of how you look with and without makeup.

"I LOVE myself with and without makeup. Makeup is like art."

"No one is perfect. Be happy in the skin you're in. Makeup doesn't define you!"

"I love to wear makeup! Not for others. Not to please boys or anyone. Just because I like it, how it looks, to play with it."

"It is about being comfortable in your own skin."
