It's not Coachella without a few high-profile surprise guests. But Kesha's unscheduled appearance last night during Zedd's set was both exciting and inspiring considering the singer's ongoing legal battle with her record label.

According to Billboard and several posts on social media, rumors that Kesha would be making an appearance had been circulating around the festival grounds all day. The artist even gave her Instagram followers a little hint about what was to come:

Fans finally got to see Kesha during Zedd's evening set where she gave a heartfelt performance of "True Colors," which Zedd and Kesha collaborated on.

It's been a long time since we saw Kesha onstage instead of in the court room. So hearing lyrics like "I'm not afraid, I'm not / All my life, one page at a time / I'll show you my, my true colors / No I won't apologize for the fire in my eyes / Let me show you my, my true colors, it ain't no rainbow," is unbelievably powerful.

Let's hope that, despite the shadow hanging over Kesha's music making, we see more amazing performances from her soon.
