As someone who favors heels over flats, I’m always searching for the next trendy elevated shoe. Over the past few seasons, I’ve seen the rise of bohemian wedges, playful peep-toe platforms, and retro T-strap stilettos. And now, with spring approaching, I’m starting to notice a new emerging style: high-vamp heels.
Characterized by an extended upper that offers more coverage than low-cut options, high-vamps are quietly becoming the shoe du jour among It girls everywhere. But any true fashion enthusiast will tell you that these polished pumps are far from new. In fact, they’re classic vintage styles, famously worn in the mid-20th century by Old Hollywood icons like Audrey Hepburn, Diahann Carroll, and Marilyn Monroe.
Decades later, the ladylike look has made a comeback, earning endorsements from numerous designers. On the Spring 2026 runways, Balenciaga showcased V-shaped high-vamps in various shades, from jet black to persimmon. During the same Paris Fashion Week, Stella McCartney championed similar styles—some with slingback silhouettes, others with closed constructions. And months later, for Chanel's Métiers d'Art 2026 show, Creative Director Matthieu Blazy featured two-toned high-vamps that honored the Parisian brand’s signature cap-toe design.
High-vamp heels took center stage on the Spring 2026 runways of Balenciaga and Stella McCartney. The retro style also emerged on Chanel's Métiers d'Art 2026 runway.
A glimpse into celebrity circles reveals that A-listers are also giving the footwear trend a try. Jennifer Lawrence recently wore Mansur Gavriel’s Kiki Heels, which she coordinated with a Dolce Gabbana buttoned dress and sharp Ray-Ban shades. And just two weeks ago, Kendall Jenner stepped out in Phoebe Philo’s Club Slippers, completing her outfit with quiet-luxury separates from The Row.
Stylish stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Kendall Jenner have already approved the high-vamp heel trend.
Eager to try the look for myself, I’ve created a handpicked list of high-vamp heels worth shopping for. Scroll on to discover a variety of options spanning luxury labels and affordable brands. Mark my word when I say these heels will effortlessly ground your rotation of spring outfits.
Almond-toe shapes are so back. Play into the style with these Everlane leather shoes, which appear as if they’ve been pulled straight from a 1950s closet.
Ditch your sky-high stilettos for Banana Republic’s Zac pumps. Made with a supple exterior and a stable block heel, you’ll want to walk around in these comfy shoes all day long.
Cool blue has become one of the most viral color trends of 2026. Sample the frosty shade with Margaux’s satin mules.
While suede is often associated with fall and winter, it shouldn’t be solely reserved for the colder months. Give the velvety fabric a try this spring by styling Madewell’s Emilie heels alongside a floaty dress and a lightweight trench coat.
Defined by a thick slingback strap, a wedge heel, and pony hair fabric, Toteme’s leopard-print shoes offer a modern twist on the traditional high-vamp design.
Elevate your collection of mesh shoes with these sheer heels from Dear Frances. They come in several shades, but I’m partial toward this cherry red hue.
I’m a huge fan of Emme Parsons’ fisherman sandals, so imagine my surprise when I discovered that the brand offers polished high-vamps that are just as well-crafted. I can’t wait to style them with button-ups, blazers, and tailored trousers for days in the office.
I’m a sucker for an itsy-bitsy kitten heel, so of course these dainty Reformation shoes made it onto my wish list.
Channel your inner horse girl with Jeffrey Campbell’s Hoof-It Mules. They’ll pair perfectly with rodeo-ready flared jeans and a frilly blouse.
According to Tony Bianco, the chocolate brown color trend isn’t going anywhere this spring. Incorporate the delectable shade into your balmy-weather wardrobe with these sumptuous heels.
Not looking to spend a pretty penny? Consider Zara’s sharp-heeled shoes, which fall right at $100.
