You Bet Size Matters

Big eyes, hair, and lips don't only exist in the realm of make-believe. Here, how to make your beauty fantasies come true

MY, WHAT BIG EYES YOU HAVE

For easy enlargement, choose shadows that make your eye color pop--think tone-on-tone or contrasting--and avoid going too dark or smoky, says Carolina Gonzalez, the makeup artist who created the looks here. Apply shadow with a subtle touch, up to but not covering your browbone. More of a makeup novice? Gonzalez recommends using a soft eyeliner pencil instead of shadow near your lashline, then smudging it with a Q-Tip. And last but not least, emphasize your lashes; whether they're real or fake, curl them, then swipe mascara onto uppers and lowers. Regardless of your natural hair type, start creating volume in the shower with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner, says Kevin Mancuso, who styled the hair here. Next, spritz volumizer at your roots and "rough dry" your hair by blowing it around while tousling it with your fingers. Just before it's dry, smooth the ends with an oval brush (round brushes can actually pull hair too straight), says Mancuso. For even bigger body, while hair is still warm from blowdrying, slide in a few large Velcro rollers and allow them to cool in hair before undoing. Or, use a curling iron to generate waves--the smaller the barrel, the curlier the hair. Used on model: Matrix Amplify Volumizing System, Kiehl's Stylist Series Super Thick Volumizer, and Y.S. Park oval brush.

ALL THE BETTER TO KISS YOU WITH!

Just like eyes, lips get smaller when you apply dark colors to them. But color is just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to getting a bee-stung effect--the other is texture. A glossy, watery finish reflects light and creates the illusion of grandeur. Gonzalez suggests first outlining the perimeter of your lips using a concealer brush dipped in bronzer two shades deeper than your skin tone: "It yields a more natural result than pencil." Then, top pout with gold, peach, or coral gloss. Used on model: Victoria's Secret Bare Bronze Collection Flawless Glow Face Bronzer and Clinique Full Potential Lips Plump and Shine in Play-Full Plump.
