Khloé Kardashian Reportedly Still Legally Married to Lamar Odom, May Be Responsible for Medical Decisions

Family and friends are said to be preparing for their final goodbyes.

As Lamar Odom's family and friends gather by his side at the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, reports surfaced that the former NBA star is not technically divorced from ex Khloé Kardashian. That revelation could mean that Khloé may technically be the one responsible for any legal or medical decisions concerning his welfare.

Khloé and Lamar were married in Sept. 2009. In 2013, Khloé  filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences." But the couple put off finalizing the divorce until July of this year. When the divorce paperwork was finally signed by Lamar and Khloé, the only thing holding up the conclusion of their proceedings was a judge's signature, which was expected to be completed within days.

However, on Wednesday TMZ broke the news that a backlog in family court in L.A. County where the couple filed was so massive, the paperwork still had not been signed off on months later. US Weekly reports a court representative confirmed that as of Oct. 14, a judge had not signed off on their divorce.

Since the couple is still technically legally married, that could mean Khloé is now the sole person responsible making decisions for Lamar's medical care.  A source close to the family told People Lamar has no living will, a document that would have laid out provisions for how his medical care is to be handled should he no longer be able to give informed consent on his own.

Lamar is currently comatose in critical condition, unable to breathe without the aid of a machine. Unless Lamar had previously designated a medical proxy to step in and make decisions regarding his care, that responsibility would fall to Khloé. But so far, there has been no report of anyone other than Khloé being designated to make medical decisions for him.

Khloé also might still be the primary beneficiary of Lamar's will. Back in 2013, when she filed for divorce, Lamar reportedly had a will that left her most of his estate, estimated at the time to be worth more than $100 million. But it's been nearly two  years since the contents of his will were first reported on and Lamar could very well have changed it since then. Also, while his net worth was reportedly in the $100 million range in 2013, that number could have significantly changed since then as well.

People also reports Lamar's family and friends are preparing to say their final goodbyes to the athlete as his condition shows little hope of improving. Khloé reportedly flew Lamar's ex-girlfriend Liza Morales and his three children he shares with her along with his father Joe Lamar out to Las Vegas so they could be by his bedside.

Khloé's sister Kim Kardashian and their mother Kris Jenner also reportedly joined her at the hospital. On Wednesday evening, Kris Instagrammed a message of support asking people to pray for Lamar as he remains hospitalized.
