While the Brangie Bunch's potential expansion (opens in new tab) was garnering a whole lot of media attention, Sandra Bullock was quietly adopting a child of her own: Laila, a  3 1/2-year-old girl from Louisiana, whom Bullock had previously fostered.

Along with Laila and her 5-year-old adopted son Louis, the most beautiful woman in the world (opens in new tab) appears on the cover of People, photographed by boyfriend Bryan Randall.

"When I look at Laila, there's no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here," she said of the three-year process of welcoming Laila into her family. "I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time."

But the adoption wasn't all smooth sailing, thanks to the paparazzi, who tracked Bullock and her daughter to the emergency room and tried to sell the subsequent photos to "every outlet in the world." Bullock had to take legal action to maintain the child's privacy.

In the end, Bullock said the trials and long wait were worth it. "My family is blended and diverse, nutty, and loving and understanding. That's a family."
