The drama is continuing to unfold for the cast of Sex and the City regarding the cancellation of the third film. Following comments from Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, and Kristin Davis, Willie Garson—who played Stanford Blatch—has now had his say on the matter.
It all began when Sarah Jessica Parker announced that a third film of the hit HBO series was no longer happening, with speculation that Kim Cattrall wasn't on board and had been making diva demands that eventually derailed it.
However, Cattrall went on to deny the diva reports during an interview with Piers Morgan on Life Stories, insisting she had been saying no to third film for well over a year, and that the relationship between the cast had turned "toxic."
She also suggested that Parker could have been "a lot nicer" about the situation, explaining: "Now at this very moment it's quite extraordinary to get any kind of negative press about something that I've been saying for almost a year of 'no,' that I'm demanding or a diva."
And now, Garson has weighed in on the conflict, taking aim at Cattrall and hinting that she may have pulled out over negotiations.
He wrote on Twitter: "Dear fans, because I'm "toxic", I'm going to negotiate a contract for 6 months, not come to terms, then say I never wanted to do it anyway."
When Parker initially shared her disappointment that a third installment had been shelved, Garson tweeted: "Disappointed for all crew holding on for negotiations to conclude for their jobs, and of course, for the fans. Leave it at that. #Truth"
Meanwhile, Kristin Davis—who played Charlotte York in the series and films—has also waded into the drama after she liked singer Sia's tweet which read:" Ok. @wbpictures can I just play Samantha and we give the people more Sex and the City? We'll just pretend I had lots of plastic surgery!"
And perhaps the final nail in the coffin, so to speak, came when Cattrall retweeted showbiz blogger Perez Hilton's provocative tweet: "RT if you think #SexAndTheCity should make a third movie and just kill@KimCattrall's character!"
Parker has yet to respond, but let's hope the much-loved stars can sort it out.
