Versace Collaborates with M.I.A. On Capsule Collection

We never thought we'd see the day when a designer would copy her own counterfeit knockoffs. But now, thanks to the Versace M.I.A. collaboration, we'll get to see what an original Versace copy of a copy looks like.

Donatella Versace told Women's Wear Daily, "I adore the energy of the street, so when M.I.A. proposed to expose the issue of counterfeit Versace pieces by creating a collaboration inspired by these items, I thought it was an incredible idea."

Rumors of the collaboration emerged last November when the singer revealed folders on her computer named "Versace Prints" and "Versace Outlines" onto a projector during a talk at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.

M.I.A. x Versus Versace collection will launch October 16. The 19-piece capsule collection will feature different takes on the Versace logo along with graphic prints.

Speaking of the collaboration, M.I.A. told WWD, "Versace's designs have always been copied, now it's Versace that copies the copies, so those that copy must copy the copies. So this will continue."
