Perhaps it’s the unbearable heat that’s causing me to daydream about chilly temperatures, but I’m officially ready to wish my warm-weather wardrobe farewell. As such, I’m focusing on fashion’s latest pre-fall collections—clothing and accessories designed for the time between summer and autumn. Think versatile layers, tailored outerwear, effortless denim, and more.

I often view these assortments as a window into all the transitional trends I can expect to see in the coming months. And let me tell you, this season’s lineup does not disappoint.

The most fascinating thing about 2026’s pre-fall collections is that they’re not defined by a single aesthetic. Some designers kept things simple with slim vintage-inspired jeans, solid shades of bubblegum pink worn as neutrals, and functional funnel-neck jackets. Meanwhile, other brands delivered loud, in-your-face styles that refused to whisper. There were a handful of sheer separates that played peekaboo with undergarments, sportif outfits that embraced a quirky attitude, and bold animal prints that ran wild.

Scroll on to discover a curated edit featuring all the transitional trends mentioned above. Given the fact that summer is swiftly winding down, now is the perfect time to shop these pieces.

According to Chloé, Chanel, and Carolina Herrera, less is indeed more. These designers showcased fashion’s sheer trend with frilly lace skirts, embellished woven sets, and dazzling evening gowns.

If you'd like to incorporate the barely-there look into your own wardrobe, consider the practical options below. Layer your diaphanous outfits with tank tops and fitted briefs for more coverage.

The sportif trend is one of those hybrid aesthetics that shouldn't make any sense, but somehow it does. Featuring a mix of activewear and elevated pieces, the look provides an intriguing sense of contrast. For the Pre-Fall 2026 season, Adam Lippes, Balenciaga, and Staud demonstrated how to effortlessly master this blend. Follow in their footsteps and you’ll definitely level up your fashion game.

From cigarette jeans to tight-fitting bootcut bottoms, vintage denim pants with slim silhouettes are having a major moment. Chloé gave the look an indie-sleaze treatment, Maison Margiela made it feel more corporate with a tailored blazer, and Victoria Beckham took an elevated approach with a sumptuous satin top.

With such a versatile appeal, there’s no denying that this style belongs in your capsule wardrobe.

This delectable shade of pink has been rotating through fashion’s trend cycle for the past few seasons, and it shows no signs of slowing down. If you haven’t yet given it a try, consider doing so.

Khaite, Carolina Herrera, and Valentino proved that the pastel hue looks stunning on satin dresses, chic co-ords, and lace-trimmed frocks. However, casual items like baggy trousers and ballerina sneakers work just as well.

Earlier this year, Marie Claire reported on the rise of funnel-neck jackets. Initially, I was a bit hesitant about the outerwear trend as I have a preference for folded collars. But then, I noticed how Isabel Marant, Kallmeyer, and Khaite styled the look, and my mind was instantly changed. Teamed with elegant staples like sweeping skirts, designer handbags, and high-vamp heels, funnel-neck jackets can embody a true cool-girl mood.

Chanel, Ganni, and Gucci championed fearless collections featuring leopard spots and zebra stripes. For those who aren’t afraid to run wild, shop the daring pieces ahead. Go full-on feral by wearing animal prints from head to toe, or keep things more tame by throwing solid neutrals into the mix.
