It was the rarefied and refined craft of haute couture that inspired Giuseppe Zanotti's laminated gold Atelier sandals, whose "movement of fabric is replicated in leather pinched by a brooch," explains the designer. This month, 20 percent of sale proceeds will benefit City of Hope (COH), the Duarte, Californiabased research hospital renowned for its innovative treatment of cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, and other life-threatening illnesses. "I am very impressed with the results that City of Hope has achieved through the years as they work to fight for, and cure, cancer patients," Zanotti says. Just as couture requires an elite designation by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris, the 100-year-old COH has been recognized as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, the highest distinction bestowed by the National Cancer Institute. We think they make a perfect pair. Jessica Minkoff
