DKNY Show

DKNY Show

DKNY"Modern Sophisticate" was how Donna Karan described her fall DKNY collection, shown on a clear Sunday day in the West Village. It was a particularly strong collection this season, with rich colors combined with excellent cuts and draping that could easily have belonged to Karan's signature collection. Many in the audience couldn't help but conjure up First Lady Michelle Obama as look after look wafted by.

Taking it all in from the front row was Hilary Duff. Clad in a fitted red DKNY dress (from the fall collection, no less), the singer, who recently announced she was coming on board to design a Femme for DKNY Jeans Collection, happily chirped to reporters about Donna Karan-both the woman and the designer. "She's so classic and timeless but with an edge," Duff said. "Donna asked me if I would be interested in designing a collection for her and I was like, 'Uhhhh, YEAH!!!'" As for her own personal style, which Duff describes as "purposefully undone," she hopes her new customer will extract bits and pieces to blend into their own wardrobes. "With this economy, I wanted to give a little something extra," she said "I love big everything so we made many of the pieces with detachable elements so that one garment could easily become 10. It's about versatility."

Duff's not in the studio recording a new album at the moment; instead, she's been hard at work on a new, as-of-yet untitled, series for NBC. While chatting with the petite starlet, I couldn't help but notice her fragrance. In case you were interested, she was wearing Tom Ford Black Orchid. "I spritz it on my neck, on my wrist and arms, and in between my legs." It would be safe to assume she didn't mean her Va-Jay-Jay.
