In the past few years, two of my favorite things—fashion and ballet (I danced for 20 years before becoming a fashion editor)—have gracefully collided. Designers like Valentino, Joseph Altuzarra, Olivier Theyskens, Prabal Gurung, and Iris Van Herpen, have whipped up beautiful creations for the New York City Ballet, denim label AG enlisted leggy ballerinas to show off its latest innovation in stretch jeans, Cole Haan tapped dancers to create a capsule line of flats, and the art of ballet itself has been an inspiration on the runway at Ralph Lauren, Christian Siriano, and Lanvin to name a few.

Last night the style set (along with principal dancers from the New York City Ballet Maria Korowski, Sara Mearns, Ashley Bouder, and Tiler Peck) gathered to celebrate the next chapter in dance-meets-fashion. This time it's former NYCB corps de ballet member Jamie Wolf (who custom made Natalie Portman's engagement ring) and her jewelry collaboration with Derek Lam. The 30 piece collection ($120 to $2,050) of sterling silver and white and black diamonds draws upon different elements from a selection of ballets choreographed by George Balanchine including Serenade, Apollo, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. The design of my favorite piece, the hinged full finger ring pictured below, was reminiscent of the winding motif on the tights that the principal ballerina, known as the Siren, wears in Prodigal Son. But the collection as a whole, whether you're a ballet fan or not, is on pointe.
