As the royal wedding date approaches, chances are good that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have entire teams of people working to ensure their big day is perfect. And according to Vanity Fair, a close friend of Markle's is also pulling strings behind the scenes.
Jessica Mulroney, who might also be Markle’s matron of honor, has reportedly been acting as a “secret wedding planner” for her friend. She certainly has experience—she’s a fashion stylist best known for dressing Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, the wife of Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau.
Mulroney, whose father-in-law was once prime minister of Canada himself, knew about the royal romance before it became public, and even reportedly let the couple stay at her house to evade paparazzi. It makes sense that she would be a confidant for the couple, too.
Vanity Fair’s sources claim that Mulroney is constantly on the phone with Markle, making key decisions about everything from the flowers to the photography to the all-important dress. She apparently helped pick out the wedding gown and showed up in London for a fitting in January.
Mulroney is also helping Markle keep the wedding fresh and modern, eschewing the conservative options proposed by the royal family. Prince Charles’ pick to help with the planning, his former valet Michael Fawcett, was dismissed as too traditional, and the couple wants to avoid hiring too many people under the age of 40. According to Vanity Fair, even the Queen got some pushback—the monarch had some suggestions for flower arrangements, but Markle had her own ideas.
