Twenty years after her death, Princess Diana's sons, William and Harry, have commissioned a statue in her honor.

According to a press release (opens in new tab), the statue will be erected on the grounds of Kensington Palace and the Princes will privately raise the funds to finance it. William and Harry have also called a committee to help with things like selecting a sculptor and installing the piece.

"It has been twenty years since our mother's death and the time is right to recognize her positive impact in the UK and around the world with a permanent statue," the Princes said in a statement (opens in new tab). "Our mother touched so many lives. We hope the statue will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on her life and her legacy."

William and Harry hope that the statue will be unveiled some time in 2017, but an official date has yet to be set.
