Prince William Is Reportedly Upset That Meghan and Harry Ruined Kate's Birthday
It "rubbed salt into the wounds."

- Prince William is reportedly upset that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced (opens in new tab) that they're stepping down as senior royals right before Kate Middleton's birthday (opens in new tab).
- A source says the timing "rubbed salt into the wounds."
The royal family has spiraled into total chaos in the past 24 hours, but it's also Kate Middleton's birthday today, and apparently she and Prince William aren't thrilled that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry dropped their bombshell news right before. In case you missed it (doubtful!) the royal couple announced (opens in new tab) that they're officially stepping down as “senior” members of the royal family and apparently didn't tell anyone (opens in new tab) about it first. Whoops!
“Harry and Meghan rubbed salt into the wounds by making the huge announcement a day before Kate’s birthday,” a source tells Us Weekly (opens in new tab). “It hasn’t gone down well with William.”
A source previously told the outlet (opens in new tab) that “William was blindsided by Harry and Meghan’s decision and statement,” and that “There’s still a rift between the two brothers. It’s sad because when they were younger, William would be the first person Harry would go to with big news like this. William is incredibly hurt, but at the same time he has his own family to focus on and is trying to move forward with his life.”
FYI, William and Kate celebrated Kate's birthday (opens in new tab) with a public Instagram post this morning, simply captioning it "Thank you everyone for all your lovely messages on The Duchess of Cambridge’s birthday!"
