Normally, Prince William and Kate Middleton spend Easter Sunday with William's grandmother, the Queen. They're regulars on the annual walk to church services with the British monarch, and are often photographed alongside other members of the royal family celebrating the holiday in Windsor. Rumor has it they're also attendees at an annual roast lamb lunch back at the Castle.
But this year, due to social distancing requirements put in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cambridges are spending Easter at home, and–like many this year–apart from their family. The royal couple is widely thought to be sequestered at their country home, Anmer Hall, where they are working remotely, and continuing to perform their duties by phone and video call.
In one such virtual meeting earlier this week, William and Kate expressed their gratitude for teachers who are continuing to work during the coronavirus crisis to provide a safe space for students whose parents are considered essential workers.
“Well done honestly to you and everyone who’s in during this time,” the Duchess said. “It must be such a relief for all the parents who are key workers to know that the normality is there for their children—they’ve got the structure, and they’ve got a safe place for them to be, so really really well done to all of you.”
During that video call (above), Prince William also revealed a bit about the Cambridge's Easter plans this year. He shared that the holiday will still involve quite a bit of chocolate, even if their usual plans are altered.
“There’ll be a lot of chocolate eaten here, don’t worry,” William said, after wishing the staffers a happy Easter. But perhaps not for long.
Kate cheekily responded, “You keep eating it!”
