A Britney Spears Biopic Is Coming to Lifetime, and No, She's Not on Board

We, however, *so* are.

If you've spent the last decade praying that Lifetime would finally get its act together and produce a movie about Britney Spears, the the moment you've been waiting for has come. The network just announced (opens in new tab) a two-hour Britney (sorry, Godney) Spears biopic, simply titled Britney.

The film will chronicle the icon's road to celebrity (more like Crossroads (opens in new tab), amirite?), as well as the headline-making drama of her personal life in the early aughts. Yep, that includes her relationship with Kevin Federline, and her split from Justin Timberlake.

So, who will metaphorically step into Britney's Sketchers sneakers? That would be Natasha Bassett, an Australian actress best known for Hail, Caesar!

Production on the film begins in September with a slated 2017 release—but FYI, Britney definitely isn't on board. A rep tells The Daily Mail  (opens in new tab)that the icon "will not be contributing in any way, shape or form to the Lifetime biopic nor does it have her blessing."

Cue Lifetime being all *SHRUG.*
