Comedian Noel Fielding is certainly one of the most wonderful parts of The Great British Baking Show. The comedian and TV host is always quick to surprise and distract the bakers with offhand comment, weird voice, or just generally silliness, but it was a recent seemingly harmless comment revealing his age that really got the tent rocking.
This week's episode of The Great British Bake Off (opens in new tab) (which has not yet aired on Netflix in the U.S. so....this is kind of a spoiler??) is '80s week, so obviously everyone was doing a little bit of reminiscing. Noel and co-host and fellow comedian Matt Lucas were introducing the ice cream cake challenge by performing a little dance that seemed to be from the British program Emu's All Live Pink Windmill Show.
"Yeah, that joke works best if you're over 45," Matt said: "If you're under 45, just carry on with TikTok," Noel added with a laugh.
Of course this prompted everyone at home to Google his age and find out that Noel (opens in new tab) is in fact 47 years old. This is surprising presumably because people assumed him to be in his 30s or, if not, a 3,000-year-old vampire. I am not sure why we are acting like 47 is that old (especially for a vampire!) but WHATEVER, MY DUDES!
Today I learnt that Noel Fielding is 47 and I am shook!November 4, 2020
Yes yes Noel Fielding’s a vampire lolololol but seriously how the hell is that man 47?! #BakeOff #GBBONovember 3, 2020
How the hell is Noel Fielding 47!!???November 4, 2020
Those who are surprised may not know Noel's career spans back to the '90s, with his first TV appearance in 1997 and his first film appearance being in 1999. Sooooo...he didn't simply appear in the tent one day via a cloud of black smoke like I assumed. Weird!
