The Trailer for Ryan Gosling's Directorial Debut Is Here, and It Is Weird

It's about…urban decay? Yeah, that sounds good.

Critics panned Ryan Gosling's directorial debut Lost River at Cannes, and now you know why: It's pretty much incomprehensible.

From what very little we can gather from the trailer, Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks), Saoirse Ronan, and Fitz from Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Ian De Caestecker) live in a post-apocalyptic city run by Doctor Who (Matt Smith). Everything is very bleak, but the music isn't bad and the visuals are stunning, especially when anyone runs/sets something on fire.

Possible themes: Detroit, global warming, escapism, how life, like this teaser, is meaningless. I dunno. You try:
