Step into our favorite shoe trend for spring: the strappy sandal. Here, Lexi Cross of Shoes Of, an Instagram account dedicated to footwear street style, shares why you're about to see these on the feet of women everywhere this season. (Keep scrolling for the pairs we're adding to our shopping cart.)
Marie Claire: Are you seeing more strappy sandals?
Lexi Cross: I’m a sneaker girl, but I’m happy to welcome strappy heels back. The styling we’re seeing is fun—strappy sandals (especially with kitten heels) paired with lots of playful patterned socks or worn with a wide-leg culotte or flirty skirt.
MC: How have you seen designers get more creative with them this season?
LC: Designers are doing fresh things: adding texture and crystal embellishments and using metallics and different materials like feathers. I’m also seeing a lot of angular shapes—a very intentional square toe or sculptural heel. Today’s strappy sandal has a bit of that ’90s influence, but it’s more refined, less chunky.
MC: What version is your favorite?
LC: I love a strappy heel that ties around the ankle. There’s something about barely there straps and a slight heel that laces around the leg that’s super flattering. What’s great about this type of shoe is its versatility. There are a lot of options for every occasion and every type of woman.
