Banana Republic is officially entering the big leagues. American designer Narciso Rodriguez — who counts Michelle Obama, Sarah Jessica Parker and our own EIC Joanna Coles as faithful fans — is joining the retailer by taking on an advisory role, the company announced in a press release this morning.
The title was created especially for Rodriguez, whose consistent collections of chic, modern sportswear are in line with the vision set forth by Banana Republic's creative director, Simon Kneen, who has helmed the brand's Mad Men partnership and the upcoming Russian-inspired capsule collection for the new flick, Anna Karenina.
We are committed to delivering modern, stylish work wear to our customers," said Jack Calhoun, Banana Republic's president. "Narciso's expertise will be a great complement to Simon's strengths and to our incredible design team."
Although he takes on the role this month, fans will first see his mark with Banana Republic's Fall 2013 collection.
We can't wait to see what he works up!
