Grapefruit diet — been there, done that.
The Ab Roller — I can check that one off of my list too.
If there is a fad out there I've tried it.
At this point, I'll do anything to fit into my wedding gown by the time May '08 rolls around. So, when I heard about the Power Plate workout at STATION Studios I was game. The "Whole Body Vibration Training" sessions are said to exercise up to 100% of the muscle fibers, as opposed to 40% in a traditional workout which means you get a complete workout in less than 30 minutes! However, I brought the world's biggest skeptic (the man I'm marrying) along to get his take on this latest fitness craze.
All of the exercises are performed directly on the vibration plate from strength building moves like sit-ups, push-ups, shoulder presses, and squats to meditative yoga and Pilate positions. The classes offered range from total body conditioning and fat burner classes to couples workouts under candle light.
Simple push-ups were harder on the vibrating plate, 45 seconds of crunches felt like an hour's worth and a minute in the squat position left my fiance sweaty and breathing puffs of air like he was about to go into labor!
Verdict? We BOTH loved it! The second we started the workout we started smiling too - it was something about that vibrating plate that just gets you in a good mood!
