When she's not working on her new drama series with Reese Witherspoon, or talking about the possibility of a Friends reunion, Jennifer Aniston can be found hanging out in the multi-million dollar mansion she recently transformed into her dream home. The actress loves interior design and after a peek inside her California mansion, it's safe to say she's got an eye for it.
In this month's issue of Architectural Digest, Aniston offers readers a peek inside her luxurious Bel Air property, where she lives with her husband Justin Theroux and their three dogs. As to be expected, it's a far cry from her famous television apartment.
After she bought the house in 2011 for a rumoured $21 million, Aniston worked with interior designer to the stars, Stephen Shadley, to turn it into the zen-like dream pad it is today. Not surprisingly, it's full of Pinterest-worthy pieces and features. Like this cosy but modern living room, which comes with its own bar.
The Asian-inspired garden...
And possibly one of the most impressive terraces we've ever seen, where Aniston likes to put out "a mean taco bar" when the weather is good, or serve chilli "in the colder months."
"If I wasn’t an actress, I’d want to be a designer," Aniston reveals in her interview with the magazine. "I love the process. There’s something about picking out fabrics and finishes that feeds my soul."
She describes the decor as "Old World meets New World," noting that "sexy is important, but comfort is essential."
As many couples who have gone through a renovation project together will know, Aniston discusses how decorating a house can often lead to compromise. "Justin definitely wanted to be involved, so there was a bit of a learning curve for me on how to include another voice in the design process," Aniston says. "For instance, I figured out that immediately saying ‘No!’ to any suggestion is not the most collaborative move." Words of wisdom, right there.
