The Accessory That's About to Make Hair Ties Go Extinct
At long last.

Ever since my friend Charles launched a diatribe against wearing hair ties on your wrist—he says they're ruining our outfits and he's right—I've been in the market for a chicer alternative. There's just no way I can go without having the option of throwing my hair up at all times, especially as the sizzling summer temps loom.
Thankfully, in latest case of Jen Atkin knowing us better than we know ourselves, she has the solution. It's called The Bun Cuff, and it's part of her new hair accessories collaboration (priced $18 to $45) with jewelry brand Chloe + Isabel. Having gone to the launch party, trying out every single one of the 13 designs firsthand, I can confidently say they're all game-changers in their own right. But there was no bigger crowd pleaser than Atkin's ingenious answer to to the hair thing.

The convertible design is comprised of a geometric, MoMA-store-worthy cuff that can be worn as a bracelet, as well as a U-shaped pin that secures the style. And rest assured that it is as functional as much as it's a thing of beauty. You can use it to create a top knot, half-bun, or even just as arm candy. Plus, it comes in gold, silver, or rose gold (matte or shiny finishes), so you can switch up the statement.
The utter ease of using The Bun Cuff, married with the fact that it can elevate your look in the matter of seconds, has me thinking that it poses a serious threat to our shoddy old hair ties. At $45, there's no denying it's an investment compared to picking up a pack of 100 metal-free elastics for $4.99. But the ROI by way of compliments, never having to curse yourself for leaving a hair tie on your wrist in a photo, and the cool-girl points it yields, is not to be underestimated. In other words, DO IT.
