Thandie Newton: 'Beyoncé makes girls want to be powerful'

Thandie Newton has spoken about Beyoncé's influence over young women.

When asked by The Observer if empowered female public figures like Beyoncé are good role models for young women, the BAFTA Award-winning actress agreed that the 'XO' singer makes girls want to be powerful.

Newton elaborated: "I think when girls hear Beyoncé, it makes them move and want to lift their arms up and be strong, be powerful. She puts this energy of positivity out there which is good for people's souls.

"I think musicians are kind of like shamans: they're bringing the vibrations of a more spiritual state. So yes, I think that is really good for girls."

Beyoncé is known for her female-empowerment songs such as 'If I Were a Boy' and 'Run The World (Girls)'.

Beyoncé Teases First '50 Shades of Grey Trailer on Instagram

Beyoncé has released a preview of the first 50 Shades of Grey trailer.

The singer posted a snippet of the trailer on her Instragram on Saturday night (July 19). The full promo will be unveiled on Thursday, July 24.

The teaser features what sounds like a version of Beyoncé's hit song 'Crazy In Love' over scenes from the movie.

"This Thursday the worldwide phenomenon comes to life", the teaser's tagline read.

Based on EL James' bestselling book with the same name, 50 Shades of Grey explores the racy sexual relationship between its two lead characters Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) and Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson).

Pacific Rim star Charlie Hunnam was initially cast as Christian alongside Johnson but left the project last year reportedly due to scheduling conflicts between the movie and his TV show Sons of Anarchy.

Last month, Hunnam revealed it was "heartbreaking" to leave the project.

He said: "When you put the time into something like that and a character comes alive in your mind, it's heartbreaking not to be able to play him... It was definitely kind of heartbreaking having to say goodbye to that character and not bring it to life."

50 Shades of Grey will be released on February 13, 2015 in the UK and US.

Nicole Scherzinger Re-Imagines 'Your Love' With An Acoustic Performance

Nicole Scherzinger is insanely talented — this we know — but sometimes her sultry, mezzo soprano vocals can get lost amidst the high-flown dance and house instrumentals that get our parties started.

Proving that she's just as sensational, if not more, without all the bells and whistles, The X Factor judge has unveiled an acoustic performance of her smash summer single, "Your Love," on The Box. Scherzinger, accompanied by a small band, re-imagines the high-octane club track into a more sedated, funky ballad with a wealth of doo-do-do-da-doos. We not only hear more of Nicole's jaw-dropping vocal chops, but also her delightfully kitschy lyrics.
