Jessica Alba: Born to Help

In addition to a successful acting career, her status as a Hollywood heartthrob, and a reputation as an ass-kicking superhero, Jessica Alba is an entrepreneur — a momtrepreneur if we may. In a quest to provide non-toxic, effective baby products, our June cover girl founded The Honest Company, which delivers safe and sustainable products to subscribers for a monthly fee.

Oscar Does The Fancy

Yesterday's Oscar de la Renta resort show was everything you'd expect from the master: chic, modern, fun and glamorous. We loved the streaks of color in the models' hair and, of course, the gowns. But one of our favorite looks was OdlR's take on the baseball tee — made of silk and sequins, natch. Even cooler? It was made available for immediate pre-order on The Fancy.

Big Girl in a Skinny World: The Denim Challenge

When it came time to plan the jeans episode of Big Girl in a Skinny World, there was only one person I could think of: Jessica Svoboda, whose name is synonymous with great denim the plus-size-world. She was my very first interview as a "plus-size style" journalist, and I remember showing up to her headquarters in Orange County, CA with my Flip Cam and a tripod. So having her in the Big Girl closet was thrilling, and a far cry from our initial meeting. Having given birth just a month ago, I was amazed at how lovely Jessica looked when she walked into the VIMBY studio — even after getting a ticket on the way over! We immediately got to gabbing and powered through with Red Bulls. (I love this woman).

Fashion Mission: Lingerie for Every Day

It's common knowledge that the right undergarments are an essential part of any outfit — no thanks, panty-lines and uniboob. Perhaps more difficult to negotiate is showing those underthings to the world.

New Girl's Jake Johnson on Ex-Girlfriends, Time Travel and Craigslist Deals

It's hard not to love Jake Johnson, especially while watching him as Nick on New Girl. But he's banking on fans having a slight change of heart with his turn in the film-festival flick Safety Not Guaranteed (out in limited release June 8).

Out of Sight

TOMS, the canvas shoes from the footwear company that donates a pair of kicks to a child-in-need for every one it sells, have become ubiquitous. More under-the-radar is the fact that TOMS has expanded its business — and philanthropy — into eyewear. The concept is similar — every pair of glasses sold results in free prescription eyeglasses, sight-saving surgery, or medical treatment for someone in the U.S. or one of ten other countries such as Ethiopia, Cambodia and Guatemala.

MC@Play with Debbie Gibson

We are constantly blown away by the musical talent emerging today, but admit it: there's nothing quite like an '80s pop star. So when our favorite of the bunch, Debbie Gibson, came to town for a gala for her Gibson Girl Foundation, we jumped at the opportunity to chat her up. If you were charmed when she released "Foolish Beat," and at 18, became the youngest woman to ever write, record, and perform a No. 1 single, wait until you see Gibson now.

The Student Loan Diaries: Stephanie McCalmon

We've all heard the statistic: Americans owe a collective one trillion dollars in student loan debt. And that number is growing at an alarming rate. Just last year, students borrowed $117 billion in loans, according to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Some experts predict another financial crisis, the overwhelming debt forcing consumers to spend less and slow the economy.

Dara Torres: A True Olympian

It was the perfect image of hope: Dara Torres holding her daughter in one arm, her flowers in the other, and wearing a silver medal around her neck at the 2008 Beijing Games. When she dove back into the pool at age 41 — 24 years after her first Olympic appearance — she won America's hearts. Now 45, the 12-time medalist is fighting to compete in her sixth Olympics, and to become the oldest swimmer ever to participate in the games. As Marie Claire learned, she is as impressive as ever.

Current Facebook Status: Organ Donor

In one of the most progressive online campaigns for human life, Facebook has introduced a donor registry tool designed to boost the number of organ donors. Considering a New York Times report that nearly 7,000 people die each year while waiting for a donor in the U.S. alone, the social network is smart to help combat these shortages by leveraging its access to 900 million users worldwide. Through a partnership with non-profit Donate Life America, Facebook users can now become donors with the click of a button.
