Runway Beauty: Seeing Saffron at Peter Som

Runway Beauty: Seeing Saffron at Peter Som

"This collection has a strong '60s flavor, but it is also playful and feminine," said Tom Pecheux, MAC's lead makeup artist at the Peter Som Spring 2011 fashion show this morning. "Eyeliner is my favorite look from this mod era, but black liner would have been too ladylike or too retro. Yellow was a natural fit with the collection's palette of colors."

If you want to try this look out at home, follow Pecheux's advice and keep the eyelid as matte as possible. "I like to use concealer as a base on the eyelid instead of foundation because it holds better. Then I'll dust pressed powder or eyeshadow over the lid before applying liner," he explained.

Just don't be too heavy-handed — "A blob of yellow over the eye will make the eye droop, so stick to a medium-width line."
