"People often get into trouble with masks because they leave them on too long, use too much product, or select the wrong one," adds Terranova. "Pumpkin masks purify dull skin, while cherry ones brighten uneven pigmentation."

Goat's milk yogurt and honey help smooth fine lines. Start with just a dime-size dollop of product before adding more, and keep a timer handy to better follow instructions.

Main Squeeze
"Extractions are best left to the pros," warns Terranova. "But if you have a formed pimple with white puss on the surface, you can tend to it at home." After a hot shower, use vinyl gloves or tissues to cover your index fingertips. Gently shimmy your fingers from the top of the pimple down and from side to side until the skin breaks, the pimple empties, and you see blood. Follow with only witch hazel and a tea-tree-oil blemish cream—no other products.

Finish off every facial with moisturizer or face oil. "You need to lock in the ingredients and create a barrier against tough winter air or overheated, dry buildings," says Terranova. Keep lavender and rose oil on hand to soothe chapped skin, and stock up on vitamin C serums if you're hitting up a lot of partiesthe antioxidant-rich formulas are the perfect pick-me-up for tired skin.
