The Kennedy name may be synonymous with American politics, but a younger member of the family has her sights set on a much different path to fame. Meet aspiring comedian Rose Schlossberg, the oldest daughter of Caroline Kennedy, U.S. ambassador to Japan and daughter of John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
Schlossberg, a Harvard graduate, just launched a web series with friend Mara Nelson-Greenberg called End Times Girls Club, a satirical vlog in which they teach women how to remain "girly" without the comforts of modern technology. "It came up as a response to seeing the way that New York responded to Hurricane Sandy, and how people were grossly underprepared—specifically, girls in damsel in distress mode," Schlossberg revealed to Mashable. "I thought it would be interesting to create this world where girls have to be survivalists without compromising their cute factor."
For example, in an episode entitled "Apocalypse Makeover," crushed candy and plastic can be melted with grease or oil to make a lipstick substitute: "I'm not a huge fan of makeup myself, but there are real benefits to looking good post doomsday," Schlossberg says as her character, Bee. "For example, you will want people to invite you into their bunker." In another episode, the girls film a "haul" video with goodies purchased at the army surplus store. The series is produced by Above Average Productions, the digital division of Lorne Michaels' Broadway Video.
