Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Release Their First Joint Statement Since Their Split

The couple seem to be making progress with divorce proceedings.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have released their first joint statement since it was announced they were splitting back in September.

The statement comes after Angelina agreed last week to keep the case sealed upon Brad's request.

He claims he wants it sealed in order to protect the children, but there were rumors that Angelina just thought Brad was "terrified that the public will learn the truth."

The joint statement, which was obtained by CNN, says: "The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues. The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification."

Angelina, 41 announced she was divorcing 53-year-old Brad in September 2016, citing irreconcilable differences, after an on-flight incident involving the actor and their son Maddox. She has been given sole custody of their six children, while he has been given "therapeutic visits".

Brad was investigated by the FBI and Department of Children and Family Services, but concluded no further action was needed and he was not charged.

Brad made an appearance at the Golden Globes at the weekend, much to everyone's surprise.

He arrived on stage to present Moonlight, which is co-produced by Brad's company Plan B Entertainment.

Brad's not been seen in public since the Madrid premiere of his film Allied back in November.
