Taylor Swift and her ex-boyfriend Harry Styles both performed at the Grammys in Los Angeles tonight—and they were both nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance (her for 'Cardigan,' him for 'Watermelon Sugar'). Of course when it came time to announce the winner, everyone (including viewers at home) were on the edge of their seats. Well, when Styles's name was announced, Swift was in the audience, applauding for him, like the supportive ex she is.

Swift and Styles dated from late 2012 to early 2013. They’re both in other relationships now: Styles is dating Olivia Wilde, and Swift has been with British actor Joe Alwyn for four years. But Swift’s songs about Styles from her 2014 album 1989, like “Out of the Woods” and “Style,” got much media attention. And the nods to their relationship did not go unnoticed by Styles.
He spoke about them last March during an interview with Howard Stern. Styles praised Swift’s songwriting then, making it clear he isn’t bothered at all by the songs she wrote about him. “I think about what it means to me to write a song about somebody else and for somebody else to do that, it’s, like, flattering, even if the song isn’t that flattering, you still spent time on it and ultimately, using Taylor as an example, she’s a great songwriter. So at least they’re good songs,” he said, via E! and Just Jared.
“The only time you really think, is this song too personal? is if you think about, is this going to be really annoying for the other person? Because I do [care],” he finished.
Styles also spoke then about what dating as A-list celeb is like. “It’s always kind of a balance thing, because you want to date normally but then, you also want to protect it so it can be normal,” he said. “I think a big part of it is like, you wanna be able to spend enough time with each other where you can get to know each other before you have to deal with the extra stuff.”
